Melissa Guenette joined Field Law as an articling student in June 2021.
Originally from Calgary, Melissa attended the University of Victoria where she completed her Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in International Business before obtaining her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa in 2021.
During law school, Melissa participated in business and employment law moot competitions and acted as a mentor for other law students through uOttawa’s Legal Writing Academy. Melissa served as the President for the uOttawa Business Law Society — a role she was elected to, after successfully serving as a Student Representative. Throughout 2020, she gained applied experience as a research assistant focused on tax law.
Melissa joined Field Law in 2019 as a summer intern working within the business law group. As a result of her work and academic experience, Melissa recognizes the importance of attention to detail and understanding clients’ needs.
Outside the Office
Outside of the office, Melissa enjoys learning new instruments and perfecting her pastry recipes. She competed as a provincially ranked badminton player growing up and continues to play badminton, golf, and basketball, today. Whether it comes to sports or board games, Melissa is always up for fun and friendly competition.
