Brenda Willman is Certified Canadian Trademark Administrator who is passionate about Intellectual Property + Technology and has worked with counsel supporting a wide range of industries and clients, in both patent and trademark work, primarily in Canada and the USA.

She has worked with a large trademark portfolio as a member of the IP and Competition Law team for a major Oil & Gas firm in Calgary, which held over 500 trademarks in more than 45 countries. Brenda worked closely with their IT team to create an in-house trademarks database used to manage trademark assets in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Brenda has extensive experience working with foreign governments through importing and exporting classified goods (including aircraft with mounted radar mapping tools) to restricted areas and through working with Oil & Gas firms and ancillary industries conducting business in North America, Central, and South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, South East Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and the Soviet Union. This knowledge is helpful for clients looking for IP protection internationally.

Value to Clients

“My knowledge of the lifecycle of trademarks allows me to provide well-rounded support to the IP team at Field Law. My experience working with government agencies around the globe permits meaningful insight when working with foreign trademark offices and agents.”

Outside the Office

Brenda enjoys the arts, especially music, as she volunteers at one or two music festivals every summer. She also enjoys sky-watching and remembers one evening waiting to witness the space shuttle chasing the International Space Station across the Calgary evening sky.
