Squaring the Circle or Levelling the Playing Field? Alberta’s New OHS Regime
Seminars
CPHR Alberta
February 2019
On June 1, 2018 the Alberta Legislature changed occupational health and safety law history. The legislative changes to the Act, Regulations and Code changed the legal landscape in material ways, some of which are in tension with other legislative and quasi-constitutional frameworks, impose substantive and complex obligations on medium to large employers, and appear to be geared toward further neutering available defences to a workplace health and safety accident or near miss.
This session will discuss some of the challenges in the new OHS regime, how they are playing out in the first ~200 days and what this all means for HR professionals in Alberta.
