Navigating Challenging People in the Discipline Process
Roundtable
April 30, 2025
Join Field Law’s Professional Regulatory Group and your professional regulatory colleagues for our first roundtable of the year.
This session will explore effective strategies for managing challenging individuals - including self-represented litigants and complainants - within the discipline process.
Featuring real-world case studies from a few of your regulatory colleagues and insights from Field Law’s Professional Regulatory group, we’ll discuss practical, people-focused approaches that help navigate these complexities while minimizing risk for regulators.
Some topics that we will cover include:
- Managing complainants during resolution processes and investigations
- Navigating hearings and appeals, including costs and delays
- Considering collateral processes (police involvement, restraining orders, lawsuits)
- The degree of procedural fairness owed to complainants
- “Whose responsibility is it” regarding self-represented litigants
Who should attend? This roundtable is designed for professional regulatory staff or directors involved in the discipline or registration processes.
Date: April 30, 2025
