Field Law’s Commitment to DEI
Our Diversity, Equity, + Inclusion (DEI) Committee actively promotes inclusivity throughout the firm. Our intranet features DEI resources, including educational videos and programs like our DEI Advocate Program. We sponsor OUTLaw programs at UCalgary and UAlberta law schools and participate in local Firm Hops and the Law Society of Alberta Indigenous Summer Student Program. Field Law has also been recognized for successfully completing SCG Legal’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advocate™ Certification Program after a year-long process that advanced the firm’s focus on DEI initiatives across all areas of the firm but specifically on recruitment, reconciliation, inclusion and belonging.
Field Law's commitment to a supportive and inclusive environment is reflected in our Universum ranking as a top ten place to work for law students in Canada in 2024. Field Law is one of only two regional firms listed in the top 20 and one of just three law firms in the top ten. Field Law is well known for our diversity in the legal industry. We have over 130 lawyers, almost half whom are female, and continue to support equal hiring in legal positions. In 2019, Field Law was awarded the Law Firm Award at the Women in Law Leadership Awards, presented by The Counsel Network and The Association of Women Lawyers. The Law Firm Award is presented to a firm operating in Alberta that best demonstrates leadership in fostering an inclusive environment for female lawyers.
