  • Training Specialist - Edmonton

    • The Training Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive training programs that enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of Fielders across all four Field Law offices. This role focuses on ensuring Fielders can effectively use technology in their day-to-day work by understanding the user experience, identifying training needs, and delivering engaging and effective learning solutions. The Training Specialist builds strong relationships with Fielders through ongoing communication and feedback to assess training effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and support a positive learning experience.

      Duties + Responsibilities

      • Develop proficient working knowledge of firm-standard software, including new products and product upgrades as introduced, as well as related policies, procedures, and best practices.
      • Apply adult learning methodologies to deliver learning sessions at an exceptional level using established delivery standards, including but not limited to, group classroom delivery, one-on-one coaching, practice sessions, product demonstrations, on-line courses, roll-out workshops, and synchronous virtual delivery/facilitation.
      • Use and maintain standard procedures to coordinate the logistics of learning sessions: publish classes, schedule/reschedule students, reserve training facilities, and maintain course content and evaluations.
      • Collaborate with subject matter experts, business representatives, and technical resources to design, develop, deliver, and maintain engaging and effective courses and learning materials for small to mid-scale programs.
      • Assess the needs of learners to recommend team learning plans through the analysis of student workflow and necessary technical competencies compared to existing skill sets.
      • Consult with Fielders to identify technology challenges, understand workflows, and make recommendations on best use of technology to meet their needs.
      • As part of the preparation process to deliver learning programs, participate in testing and validating new firm-standard applications and product upgrades.
      • Research best practices, advancements, and trends in adult education to identify opportunities for incorporating them in the training program.
      • Update and maintain training and user documentation in line with Field policies and procedures.
      • Provide feedback to managers and supervisors regarding trainees’ performance and development and make recommendations for improvement.
      • Other tasks as assigned.

      Qualifications + Skills

      • 3+ years of experience training in the legal industry (technical training experience may be considered in lieu of legal industry experience).
      • Experience writing and formatting training materials and user documentation.
      • 3+ years of progressively related instructional design experience.
      • Demonstrated technology training experience.
      • Eagerness to grow, learn and improve, and help Fielders improve their use of firm tools.
      • A strong passion for continuous process improvement and innovation.
      • Strong analytical skills to understand, document, and communicate complex processes.
      • A foundational understanding of technology and how technology can be used for automation, collaboration, and improvements in efficiency.

  • IT Operations Specialist - 6-months - Calgary or Edmonton

    • Our firm has an opening for an IT Operations Specialist (this is a 6-month temporary position) to join our team.

      The IT Operations Specialist emphasizes complex issue resolution, system optimization, and mentoring team members. Responsibilities involve driving process improvements, investigating root causes of issues, analyzing network performance, and monitoring security systems to mitigate threats. Proficiency with tools like Power Platform, Security and network monitoring tools, and tools like Azure Monitor, Intune, Enterra ID and Microsoft Teams Management are required, along with advanced problem-solving skills. Applicants should have 5 – 8 years of IT operations experience and hold an ITIL certification.

      The IT Operations Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the highest level of IT service quality, reliability, and security, while driving business outcomes through strategic IT solutions.

      Qualifications + Skills

      • ITIL certification is required.
      • Proficiency in networking fundamentals, M365 capabilities, Intune management, and identity access management (Entra ID).
      • Years of Experience: 5-8 years in IT operations, support, or systems administration.
      • Tools: Power Apps for custom apps and workflows, Power BI for data analysis and reporting, Veeam and Acronis for backup and disaster recovery, CrowdStrike and SolarWinds for network monitoring and security management, Entra ID for identity access management.
      • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
      • Advanced skills in Power Apps, Power BI, Veeam, Acronis, and network performance tools
      • Experience with advanced tools like CrowdStrike, SolarWinds, and Entra ID
      • Thorough understanding of ITIL processes and best practices.

  • Accountant - Edmonton

    • We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to take ownership of month-end accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives while supporting the Accounting Manager and broader Finance team.

      Duties + Responsibilities

      • Perform full-cycle accounting and general ledger maintenance
      • Prepare month-end, quarter-end, and year-end working papers, reconciliations, and journal entries
      • Complete bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
      • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audit requirements, and regulatory filings
      • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
      • Support financial system improvements, process automation, and reporting enhancements
      • Provide cross-functional support and backup coverage for team members as needed
      • Participate in special projects and perform ad hoc analysis and reporting, and

      Qualifications + Skills

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
      • Enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP), including completion of or progression toward Capstone, is considered an asset
      • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a full-cycle accounting role
      • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is considered a strong asset
      • Experience working with trust accounting processes is considered an asset
      • Strong understanding of financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes

  • Technical Analyst  - Calgary

    • Our Calgary office has an opening for a Technical Analyst to join our IT Operations Team.

      Reporting to the Manager of IT Operations, the Technical Analyst serves as the single point of contact for Fielders needing technical support. This role requires a passionate, customer-focused individual who troubleshoots issues and understands their impact on business operations. By identifying root causes, the Technical Analyst ensures timely resolutions by directly solving the issue or effectively triaging it to the right team with the necessary information.

      Beyond reactive support, this role is critical to ensuring seamless IT operations by providing proactive maintenance, driving efficiencies, and enhancing security. The Technical Analyst takes ownership of process improvements and works to optimize Field Law’s technology landscape.

      • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support, resolving software, hardware, and network issues efficiently.
      • Manage incidents through to resolution by performing troubleshooting and escalating complex or specialized issues to the appropriate teams when necessary, ensuring clear documentation and follow-through.
