Overview
Applications are now open for the 2025 Field Law Community Fund Program, an annual initiative by Field Law offering funds for inspiring community-focused projects and ideas across Alberta and the Northwest Territories, where Field Law operates. This year’s Field Law Community Fund Program will mark $1 million supporting more than 165 grassroots initiatives in the past 13 years.
Since its inception in 2013, the Field Law Community Fund Program has reflected one of the firm’s core values: giving back to the communities in which it operates. Over the years, funding has supported initiatives in education, healthcare, at-risk youth, homelessness, women’s organizations, diversity, equality, sports, and arts and culture.
Last year there were nine winners from Northern Alberta, nine winners from Southern Alberta, four winners from NWT, and one Next Gen Award winner. Little Warriors received $2,000 from the Field Law Community Fund Program to support its Animal-Assisted Therapy Program at the Be Brave Ranch. The funding will help cover animal care and program needs, ensuring children continue to benefit from therapeutic interactions that aid in healing from trauma.

“Each year, we’re inspired by the passionate and dedicated individuals behind the applications we receive,” says Farha Salim, Managing Partner at Field Law. “Reaching the $1 million milestone through the Field Law Community Fund Program is a powerful reminder of the impact local ideas can have. This program is about more than just funding—it’s about amplifying community voices and empowering them to shape their own futures. By supporting grassroots initiatives, we’re proud to help build stronger, more resilient communities across Alberta and the Northwest Territories.”
Of the $85,000 available this year, $30,000 is available in each of Northern and Southern Alberta, $20,000 is available for the NWT and $5,000 is available as part of the Next Gen Award. Previous winners are encouraged to apply each year with new ideas, continuing to build on the positive impact and momentum of the program. Charitable organizations, non-profits, and individuals based in Alberta and the Northwest Territories are eligible and encouraged to apply.
Following the success of its launch last year, Field Law will once again offer $5,000 as part of the Next Gen Award, designed to inspire post-secondary students in Alberta and the Northwest Territories to bring forward ideas that strengthen their campus or community.
The launch of the Next Gen Award last year was a tremendous success, highlighting the creativity and drive of students in our community,” Salim adds. “We witnessed firsthand how eager young people are to bring forward fresh ideas that make a real difference. Building on that momentum, we’re excited to continue supporting the next generation of changemakers as they turn their visions into reality.”
Finalists for both the Field Law Community Fund Program and the Next Gen Award will be chosen through a combination of public online voting and the decisions of the local Community Market Judging Panel.
Applications are now open and close at 5:00 PM MT on October 8, 2025. Starting October 15, 2025, anyone living in Alberta or the NWT is invited to vote for their favorite ideas directly through the Community Fund Program website.
