Jonathon Austin

Jonathon Austin is an Edmonton-based lawyer whose practice focuses on insurance litigation and general civil litigation. He advises and represents insurers and other clients in disputes, providing practical, strategic advice focused on efficient resolution.

Before joining Field Law, Jonathon worked as in-house counsel for a prominent national insurer, where he gained first-hand experience managing insurance claims and litigation from an insurer’s perspective. He began his legal career representing injured plaintiffs, giving him experience on both sides of personal injury and insurance disputes. This background allows him to assess claims from multiple perspectives and provide clients with practical advice informed by an understanding of how insurance disputes develop and are resolved.

Jonathon has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and has significant experience in alternative dispute resolution. He regularly represents clients in Judicial Dispute Resolution proceedings and mediations, helping clients evaluate risk and pursue practical resolutions where appropriate.
