Emily Smeaton is a lawyer in our Edmonton office, focusing on insurance law and general litigation. Her clients trust her to handle a broad range of insurance matters, including casualty, coverage, subrogation, and errors and omissions, as well as a broad range of general litigation matters including contract disputes, uninsured motor vehicle or slip and fall claims, and occupiers' liability audits.

Emily’s practice spans construction litigation, fire losses, product liability, subrogated property claims, and personal injury cases. She regularly advises on automobile, occupiers’ liability, commercial general liability, and, working to achieve fair and efficient results for her clients.

Emily has represented clients before tribunals, the Alberta Court of Justice, Alberta Court of King’s Bench, as well as all levels of court in British Columbia including the Provincial Court of British Columbia, Supreme Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Court of Appeal.

Committed to fostering the next generation of lawyers, Emily has guest lectured on civil procedure at Thompson Rivers University and has volunteered as a moot judge. She values connecting with law students and providing mentorship as they begin their legal careers.
