14th Annual Field Law Community Fund Program to Provide $80,000 in Funding to Local Initiatives

Applications are now open for the 2026 Field Law Community Fund Program, which supports causes by charities, non-profits, and individuals working to better their communities. Those located in Alberta and the Northwest Territories are eligible and encouraged to apply before October 10, 2026.

This year, $80,000 is available, with $30,000 each available for causes in both northern and southern Alberta, and $20,000 available for causes in the Northwest Territories. Applicants don’t need to be registered charities or non-profits to participate: individuals with ideas that benefit their local communities are also eligible.

We can't wait to see what charities, non-profits, and individuals bring forward in this fourteenth year of the program."

Since its establishment in 2013, the Field Law Community Fund Program has supported 184 community projects to the tune of $1,000,000. Field Law is passionate about supporting projects in the areas of education, healthcare, at-risk youth, homelessness, diversity, equality, women’s organizations, community and sports, and arts and culture.

Last year, 9 winners were selected in southern Alberta, 4 were selected in northern Alberta, and 3 were selected in the Northwest Territories.

Recent Recipients

The 2025 grand prize winner in northern Alberta was the Radius Community Health and Healing Dental Clinic. Funds were used to purchase modern dental equipment to provide underserved Edmontonians with Guided Biofilm Therapy, a clinically proven technology for gentle removal of plaque. This initiative will expand access to safe, effective dental care for individuals who often face the greatest barriers to oral health services.

In 2025, “Lacrossing Barriers” was among the winners in southern Alberta. Their after-school lacrosse program for Indigenous youth was designed to eliminate financial, physical, and cultural barriers that may prevent youth from participating in organized sport.

The 2025 grand prize winner in the Northwest Territories was the Hay River Community Garden Society, which used the funds to purchase a new greenhouse. This has allowed members to grow new vegetables, plant earlier, and harvest later. The community also benefits from this project, as members of the community garden commit to donating a portion of their yields to the Hay River Soup Kitchen.

Applications for funding are now open until October 10, 2026. The final funding recipients will be chosen by a combination of online voting from the community, and by a panel of judges. Community members are encouraged to cast their votes starting October 13, and learn more about the Field Law Community Fund Program at www.fieldlawcommunityfund.com.
