Geoffrey Hope

Geoff Hope is an Edmonton-based lawyer whose practice focuses on labour + employment law and civil litigation. He advises and represents public and private sector employers of all sizes across Alberta on workplace matters, including employee discipline, collective bargaining, terminations, workplace accommodation, employment policies and competition-related issues.

Geoff represents employers before the Alberta Labour Relations Board, in labour arbitrations, before all levels of court in Alberta and before the Alberta Human Rights Commission. He provides strategic advice throughout the employment relationship, helping employers manage workplace issues, disputes and regulatory obligations.

Geoff also serves as legal counsel to health services, law enforcement organizations and post-secondary institutions throughout Alberta. He advises institutional clients on policy and governance, labour relations, human rights, student matters, contractual disputes, employment issues and administrative law matters.

In his litigation practice, Geoff represents clients in commercial lawsuits and arbitrations, including contractual and business disputes, shareholder disputes, product liability claims, construction disputes and professional negligence matters.

In addition to his work as an advocate and trusted advisor, Geoff serves as an arbitrator and mediator in legal disputes and conducts workplace investigations on behalf of employers.

Geoff previously served on Field Law’s Executive Committee and is the former Chair of the Labour + Employment and Litigation Practice Groups in the firm’s Edmonton office.
