Carolyn Paterson

Carolyn Paterson is a Calgary-based Partner whose practice focuses on insurance defence, estate litigation and municipal law. An experienced litigator, she represents clients through all stages of disputes and provides strategic advice and advocacy tailored to their objectives.

Carolyn’s insurance defence practice focuses on motor vehicle claims, professional liability, occupiers’ liability, property loss and condominium disputes. She also pursues subrogated claims on behalf of insurers and provides insurance coverage opinions. Carolyn brings additional experience in municipal law and municipal liability, having previously practised as a litigator with the City of Calgary.

In her estate litigation practice, Carolyn represents clients in disputes involving wills, powers of attorney and capacity issues. She takes a strategic and practical approach to resolving sensitive estate disputes while remaining focused on her clients’ objectives throughout the litigation process.

Carolyn has more than 10 years of litigation experience and has represented clients before the Alberta Court of Justice, the Alberta Court of King’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal. Her experience includes trials, mediations, Judicial Dispute Resolution proceedings and appearances in commercial and civil chambers.
