Carolyn Paterson practices in the areas of insurance, insolvency and general litigation, championing for her clients through oral and written advocacy.

Carolyn’s insurance defence practice is primarily focused on motor vehicle claims, professional liability, occupiers’ liability, property loss and condominium disputes. She also pursues subrogated actions for insurers and provides coverage opinions.  

In her insolvency practice she acts for creditors and trustees in a variety of insolvency and debt recovery proceedings including receiverships and bankruptcy. In her general litigation practice, Carolyn represents clients in breach of contract, construction litigation, builders’ liens and defamation matters among others. She has municipal law experience having previously litigated with The City of Calgary.

Through her advocacy, Carolyn has represented clients in the Provincial Court of Alberta, Court of Queen’s Bench and Alberta Court of Appeal, at trial, in mediations, judicial dispute resolutions and in commercial and civil chambers.  She draws upon her experience to develop and implement effective strategies that align with client objectives at every stage of litigation.

Carolyn received a Bachelor of Arts in politics from Queen’s University in 2009, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Calgary in 2012.  When she is not at the office, Carolyn spends her time adventuring in the mountains with her family.
