Kevin Feth, QC Appointed Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (May 27, 2019) – Field Law is proud to announce that Kevin Feth, QC a former partner in the firm’s Edmonton office, has been appointed a Justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta. Kevin’s appointment to the Court is an honour that has been earned through focused dedication to his profession and the community over many years. The Firm extends its congratulations.
With a distinguished career, appearing before the Supreme Court of Canada, at all court levels in Alberta, the Federal Court of Canada, numerous administrative tribunals and at local and international commercial arbitral panels, Kevin will serve the Court with knowledge and distinction.
Graduating from the University of Alberta Law School in 1989, Kevin articled in Edmonton at Field & Field, and worked with that firm and its successors throughout his career. Kevin served as the chair of Field’s Labour and Employment Practice Group in Edmonton and has represented clients in labour arbitrations (under both provincial legislation and the Canada Labour Code), before the Alberta Labour Relations Board, and at the Alberta Human Rights Commission.
Kevin also provided strategic advice to clients about collective bargaining, human rights, the duty to accommodate, interest arbitration, corporate reorganizations, management of personnel, privacy and access to information. His clients included public institutions, professional associations, provincially and federally regulated corporations, Metis Settlements and First Nations.
As President of the Law Society of Alberta from 2014-2015, Kevin chaired numerous Law Society committees, including the Legal Aid Task Force from 2014-2018 and the Access to Justice Committee. He served as chair of the National Civil Litigation Section of the Canadian Bar Association and has been the president of Pro Bono Law Alberta since 2015. In 2019, Kevin received a Distinguished Service Award for Service to the Legal Profession from the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association (Alberta Branch) and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2010.
Kevin was recognized by Benchmark Litigation: Canada as a peer-reviewed "litigation star" in labour and employment and by Best Lawyers in Canada as a recommended lawyer in education law. He was also a sessional instructor in labour law at the University of Alberta Law School from 2004-2009 and an instructor in litigation at the Alberta Bar Admission/CPLED course for 15 years.
Above all, Kevin has exemplified outstanding character, dedication and the highest ethical standards to Field`s clients, to his colleagues, and to the many people he has mentored throughout his career.
