Bike All Winter
The Field Law Community Fund Program’s support helped Community Cruisers equip 96 Bow Valley residents to bike confidently and safely through the winter—many for the first time. With subsidized studded tires, lights, and fenders, participants gained the tools and confidence they needed to replace winter car trips with active, affordable and sustainable transportation. Participants rode an average of three days per week, and over 70% biked at least two days per week from December to March.
Participants reported feeling safer on snow and ice, more motivated to stay active, and better connected to their community. Nearly all participants plan to continue winter riding next year, and 100% said they would encourage others to try it. One participant shared, “The studded tires changed everything—I rode all winter and felt empowered instead of intimidated by the cold.”
Thanks to the Field Law Community Fund Program, more people are discovering that winter biking is not only possible—it’s joyful, sustainable, and transformative for both individuals and the community.
