The Idea
The Perfectly Imperfects Community Outreach Tour is a brand-new initiative that will take our original musical performances on the road to the community, long-term care centers, retirement residences, and assisted living facilities in the greater Calgary area.
This is a self-contained project designed to bring the transformative power of song, story, and movement to audiences who rarely have access to live, interactive arts experiences.
Our choir, currently composed of twenty older adults, creates unique performances that blend story, song, and gentle movement. Over the past 14 years, we have developed a safe, inclusive space for people to sing regardless of skill or experience. This outreach tour extends that joy beyond our rehearsal hall, using leisure, recreation, and play as tools to promote wellness and connection.
To begin we plan to perform throughout the 2025/26 season, reaching an estimated 400 - 600 participants, including residents, staff, family and community members. Utilizing familiar songs, each performance will be adapted to the needs of the venue and will encourage audience participation.
Through song, story, and dance, our performances provide opportunities for immediate participation. It also offers the potential to create opportunities for family members, staff and other participants to connect and reminisce about the show and their life experiences.
This project pays it forward by improving wellness, and offering benefits for the many stakeholders who will receive these performances. This includes long-term care residents, staff, caregivers, family, members of the larger community and the twenty plus members of The Perfectly Imperfects.
With Field Law’s support, we’ll positively impact the lives of our community in both the areas of health and the arts.
Who Will Benefit?
