The Idea
Our idea is to bring the joy and magic of the Festival of Trees directly to children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Santa Claus and his merry elf will visit up to ten (10) schools in Edmonton identified as having some of the greatest needs in our community. Working in collaboration with Edmonton’s Public and Catholic school boards, participating schools will be selected to help ensure the experience reaches children and families who can benefit most from a little extra holiday joy. Through this funding, Field Law would sponsor the Santa's Little Guests experience at two (2) of these schools.
During each school visit, children will gather for a special holiday experience with Santa and his elf. Santa will share a holiday story, and each child will receive a gift bag and holiday craft to take home and enjoy. Students will also receive a special colouring sheet that they can complete as part of the experience.
At its heart, this initiative is about bringing the spirit of the Festival of Trees beyond the event itself and directly into Edmonton communities. By meeting children where they are, we hope to create a memorable holiday experience filled with joy, creativity and connection, while giving participating students an opportunity to share some of that joy with their families and classmates.
Who Will Benefit?
This initiative will benefit children attending Edmonton schools identified as having some of the greatest needs in our community. Working with Edmonton’s public and Catholic school boards, participating schools will be selected to help ensure the Santa's Little Guests experience reaches students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to take part in a special holiday celebration like this.
For many families, the holiday season can bring additional financial pressures and challenges. By bringing the experience directly into schools, we can help remove barriers to participation and ensure students can enjoy the excitement of a visit from Santa and his elf alongside their classmates.
The funding will allow us to bring the magic of the Festival of Trees directly into these school communities and create a memorable celebration for children who can benefit from a little extra holiday joy.
