The Idea

The Lethbridge Folk Club, a registered non-profit in the province of Alberta since 1979, has been bringing live music to Lethbridge for over 45 years. As we enter our 46th year, our group is transitioning from being a music presenter to a community organization dedicated to bringing more live music to various parts of Lethbridge and the surrounding area at little to no cost to the community. Transitioning the example and success of the Medicine Hat Porchfest to Lethbridge is a wonderful first start in this endeavour. Music soothes the soul, engages the mind, and brings people together in community.

This project will be assisted in collaboration with Robert Pape and the Medicine Hat Porchfest organization.

We hope to bring more music to the hearts and souls of the people of Lethbridge.

Who Will Benefit?

This family-friendly music event is open to all in Lethbridge. We are making an effort by choosing a centrally located community for our first event to provide a walkable/bikeable series of six concerts at one-hour intervals, specifically staggered over the afternoon to allow all audiences to see as many of these neighbourhood concerts as possible. We will be seeking local bands and musicians to perform at these concerts and inviting local food trucks to set up in the concert area. This, the first event of its kind in Lethbridge, will be an annual event, supported by the City of Lethbridge, the YQL Neighbourhood Association, and the volunteers of the Lethbridge Folk Club and benefits all the citizens of Lethbridge who enjoy music, musicians who are trying to make a living and hone their skills in the city and local businesses providing services in support of this event.
