Invest in 8 Girls, Multiply the Impact: Confidence, Health & Leadership

The Idea
Fit+Fierce is an award-winning personal development program now in its 15th year, designed for girls in grades 3–12. Our idea for this funding is specific: we are requesting sponsorship for 8 girls—2 at each of our 4 new partner locations with GoodLife Fitness. The cost per girl is $525, bringing the total to $4,200. These 8 funded spots will allow us to welcome girls from new communities who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate, ensuring they gain the same support and education that has already impacted thousands of girls in St. Albert.
But this idea is about more than access—it is about responding to the urgent challenges facing youth today. We are living in a time when rates of anxiety, stress, and obesity are rising sharply among young people. Girls need more than academics and sport; they need spaces that teach them how to manage emotions, care for their bodies, and build real connections with others. This funding allows us to create those spaces in new communities. It ensures that girls can come together to learn what it means to be emotionally resilient, physically capable, and confident in their ability to contribute.
By opening doors for these 8 girls, we are equipping communities with a generation of young women who value connection, independence, and contribution. Girls who support one another, who learn to navigate challenges without crumbling under pressure, and who see health and movement as positive and empowering. The funding creates community—one built on strong, emotionally intelligent, and healthy young women whose ripple effect will extend into schools, families, sports teams, and peer groups, inspiring healthier communities today and stronger leaders for tomorrow.
Who Will Benefit?
The primary beneficiaries of this idea are the 8 girls who will be sponsored to participate in Fit+Fierce for a full year. Each girl will gain access to a program that blends education in mindset, fitness, and nutrition with mentorship and community connection. The benefits, however, extend far beyond these 8 participants. When girls come to Fit+Fierce, they are not only impacted themselves—they carry what they learn into their families, schools, sports teams, and communities, creating a ripple effect of wellness, confidence, and positive change.
For the girls, Fit+Fierce can be life-changing. They receive education and support that helps them develop healthy habits and confidence they can carry into adulthood. They learn that failure is not the end but proof that they are trying. They learn that the way they speak to themselves matters, that discomfort and challenge are opportunities for growth, and that authenticity is strength. Even more importantly, they experience being truly seen and heard—sometimes for the first time—and discover that they are enough and capable of far more than they imagined. That realization can change the entire trajectory of a girl’s life.
Mentorship is another key benefit. Girls receive guidance not only from trained coaches but also from older participants who serve as mentors. This layered support system builds connection, trust, and belonging. Younger participants gain role models they can relate to, while older girls develop leadership skills by giving back. These experiences create an educated and enlightened community where girls support one another and build each other up instead of tearing each other down.
Ultimately, the impact of these 8 funded spots will ripple outward. Families benefit when girls bring home healthier habits and a stronger sense of self. Schools and teams benefit when participants model confidence, resilience, and inclusivity. Communities benefit when young women grow into leaders who value contribution and connection. Fit+Fierce is more than a program—it is a movement that inspires wellness in every aspect of life and creates a culture where girls can grow into strong, resilient, and community-minded leaders.
