Gowns For Grads

We run a program called Gowns for Grads, Suits for Guys - we collect gently used newer gowns and suits etc. and run event days where youth who are graduating can find their grad attire at no cost.  We have been running this program for about 12 years.  We have depended on finding donated spaces to set up and run this program over a two month period February through March/April.  We are looking at having to rent a commercial space to do so as we do not have our own building/facility and donated space is hard to find in this economic climate.   We run this program to enable all grads to be outfitted for their graduation and participate with their peers.  It is very expensive to purchase formal attire and this helps so many young people and families to participate in this special time.  We are looking at having to pay for a commercial space where we can set up our racks and offer more dates for the youth to come in and find their outfits at no cost whatsoever.  We are also happy about the recycling aspect of this program as these special outfits that are donated get used again instead of going to a landfill  We are not sure what such a space will ultimately cost but we are estimating needing in the neighborhood of a few thousand dollars to do so.  Any amount that we could be granted would go a long way to making this possible.  We have helped many graduates over the years and it is very rewarding in being able to help them and their family participate with their peers at grad time.  

All youth graduating from high school or post secondary education can get their formal wear at no cost and be able to participate in the graduation event with their peers
