The Idea

Our idea is to raise funds to purchase essential items for our children and youth counselling programs. These programs support young people ages 3-18 experiencing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges such as bullying, aggression, socialization difficulties, depression, and anxiety. Through play and art therapy, we create a safe supportive space where children and youth can explore their feelings, develop crucial life skills, including socially appropriate behavior, problem-solving abilities, and effective coping strategies.

With support from Field Law, we will purchase interactive toys, art materials (including markers, crayons, and paper), healthy snacks, and organizational items to enrich both individual and group counselling sessions. These items are not just supplies; they are instruments of healing. Many children struggle to express complex emotions verbally. Play and art offer alternative pathways for communication, allowing young people to externalize their thoughts, fears, and frustrations in a constructive and developmentally appropriate way.

Research shows that play and art therapy can significantly improve emotional regulation, communication skills, self-esteem, and overall mood. These approaches empower children and youth to better understand themselves and others, fostering empathy, problem-solving abilities, and socially appropriate behavior. By investing in these tools, we are investing in the emotional wellbeing and future success of vulnerable young people in our community.

Field Law’s funding would directly support the therapeutic process, helping us create a more engaging, effective, and inclusive environment for healing and growth. Together, we can ensure that young people have the opportunity to feel heard, supported, and equipped to thrive.

Who Will Benefit?

Children and youth (ages 3-18) will directly benefit from the supplies used in individual and group counselling sessions, particularly through play and art therapy. These therapies offer a safe, non-verbal way for young people to express their emotions, frustrations, and fears, especially when they struggle to articulate their feelings. By engaging in creative activities, children and youth develop healthier communication skills, learn problem-solving and coping strategies, and gain greater self-confidence. This process helps them manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges.
