The Idea

Carmella Consulting is launching goBFF.ai (Business’s Best Friend). An AI-Enabled Consulting Partner that empowers nonprofits to communicate, fundraise, and operate with the efficiency of a full marketing and strategy team. Originally built by accident for a “Learn at Lunch,” BFF now saves our team countless hours each week. We quickly realized its potential to help the 225 nonprofit organizations in the Bow Valley overcome their biggest challenge: capacity.

With support from the Field Law Community Fund, Carmella will provide 10 nonprofits with a custom-built BFF trained on their unique voice, tone, goals, and strategic objectives. BFF is not a chatbot or a gimmick; it’s a digital consulting partner that thinks like a strategist, writes like a marketer (social media, strategy, newsletters, graphics, images), and communicates in each organization’s brand voice.

For business owners, BFF replaces the strategic bandwidth they don’t have.
For nonprofits, it replaces the marketing manager or grant writer they can’t afford.
For teams, it integrates into workflows, freeing time for higher-value work.

Immediate Impact:

• 3-4 hours a week of time savings per person

• 10 Bow Valley nonprofits equipped with their own BFF
• 50+ nonprofit leaders trained in responsible AI and digital communication
• 1,000+ volunteer hours redirected from administration to community service

Ripple Effect:
• Increased visibility for local causes → stronger donor engagement
• Improved grant success → more funding for community programs

• Better marketing and communication strategy and resources.

By funding this initiative, Field Law will help create a replicable model for how technology and community collaboration can amplify human impact, ensuring every nonprofit has a true Business’s Best Friend.

Who Will Benefit?

This initiative will directly benefit the 225 nonprofit organizations across the Bow Valley, including charities, community associations, clubs, and volunteer-led groups, who play a vital role in building strong, connected, and resilient communities but often struggle with limited capacity, funding, and professional support.

Nonprofits are typically run by passionate individuals wearing multiple hats. They’re program directors, fundraisers, event planners, and administrators all at once. Marketing, communications, and fundraising, though essential, are often pushed aside due to time and budget constraints. This means many incredible programs go unseen, underfunded, or misunderstood by the broader community.

BFF (Business’s Best Friend) changes that. It’s an IP infused, AI-Enabled Consulting Partner designed and trained by Carmella Consulting to act as a digital teammate for nonprofits. BFF helps these organizations:

  • Write grants, reports, and donor communications.

  • Build social media posts, newsletters, and event promotions.

  • Create strategic plans, annual reports, and marketing calendars.

  • Train staff and volunteers in modern communication and fundraising strategies.

  • Operate more efficiently by automating time-consuming writing and planning tasks.

Each nonprofit that receives a custom-built BFF will have it trained on their specific goals, brand tone, and strategic priorities. That means they get communications and planning support that reflects their organization’s unique mission and audience.

The beneficiaries go far beyond the organizations themselves:

  • Volunteers gain time back for meaningful community work instead of administrative tasks.

  • Staff and board members gain confidence and clarity in communications and strategy.

  • Donors and partners gain more consistent updates, transparency, and engagement.

  • Community members benefit as local nonprofits become more visible and better resourced to deliver their programs.

The ripple effect is powerful:

  • Increased funding success rates mean more programs for youth, seniors, and families.

  • Better communication helps attract volunteers and build stronger networks.

  • Shared learning between nonprofits fosters collaboration and collective growth.

Ultimately, BFF empowers nonprofits to do more good, with less strain. It bridges the gap between passion and execution, giving local organizations the professional tools and strategic support they could never otherwise afford.
