Sheldon McDonald joined Field Law as an articling student in September 2020.
Prior to receiving his law degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary, Sheldon graduated from Acadia University with a degree in Business Administration with honours and was also a varsity football and track athlete.
During law school, Sheldon participated in a range of extracurricular activities, which includes working as a caseworker with Student Legal Assistance, volunteering at Pro Bono Students Canada, acting as an executive member of the Student Ambassador Program and a member of law school's rugby team. Sheldon took part in two moots while in law school, the Davies' Annual Corporate/Securities Moot, and the Bennett Jones Health Law Moot. Sheldon gained valuable experience as a summer student with Field Law in 2018 and with a major midstream oil and gas company in the summer of 2019. He also completed the BLG Business Venture Clinic course, in which he was able to assist local start-up businesses by providing legal information and drafts of various corporate documents. Sheldon is eager to apply his knowledge and experience to aid his clients.
Outside the Office
Sheldon enjoys spending a lot of time outdoors by running, riding his bike around the city, and skiing – a new hobby he picked up after moving to Calgary. Sheldon also likes to read and binge-watch his favourite movies and shows, or football, in his downtime. Regardless of the activity, Sheldon is always keen to discover new local craft beers afterwards.
