Field Law Community Fund Program Seeks Community Input to Select Program Finalists
Regional law firm opens voting phase to public with $75,000 available for distribution
Field Law, a regional law firm with offices in Calgary, Edmonton and Yellowknife, has launched the online voting phase for the fourth year of the Field Law Community Fund Program (the Program). The Program, which supports local pay-it-forward initiatives in the communities Field Law operates, is now accepting public input to help determine how many of the more than 120 applicants will be awarded funds from the $75,000 available.

Over the past three years, the Program has received more than 69,000 votes from the Northern Alberta, Southern Alberta and the Northwest Territories community markets combined. In that time, the Program has seen a total of $250,000 in funding awarded to 42 deserving community causes and projects.

Program finalists are chosen through a combination of public online voting and deliberation by a local judging panel. Funds are then allocated amongst the three community markets: Northern Alberta ($30,000), Southern Alberta ($30,000) and the Northwest Territories ($15,000). Finalists are eligible to receive anywhere from $1,000 to the maximum award for their community market. The voting process gives the public a say in what projects they think will have the greatest impact in their communities. The Program also provides a promotional opportunity for all qualified community causes.

“We initiated this Program to give back to and connect with our communities in a meaningful way,” says Jim Casey, Managing Partner, Field Law. “We value what the people have to say about how these funds could be allocated and we are appreciative of the overwhelming feedback we receive year after year.”

Field Law is deeply invested in the communities it serves. Its preferred causes include (but are not exclusive to) those that support education, healthcare, at-risk youth, homelessness, women’s organizations, community and sports, or arts and culture.

The online voting phase of the Field Law Community Fund Program is now open to the public until June 17, 2016 at 5 p.m. MDT. To view the applicants and share your vote, visit www.fieldlawcommunityfund.com.
