Lunch Time Round Table Series

Human Rights Issues for Regulators:

  • How do the provisions of Alberta's Human Rights Act apply to regulators?
  • What is the duty to accommodate and how does it impact regulators?
  • What human rights issues can arise in the registration process?
  • What human rights issues can arise when dealing with foreign-trained applicants?
  • Can Hearing Tribunals consider human rights issues when deciding professional discipline cases?
  • Can regulated members be excused from the regular professional discipline process if the unprofessional conduct arises from a disability such as mental illness or addiction?
