Patent Agent

Job Description

We are looking to add an experienced Patent Agent to our Intellectual Property and Technology Law Practice Group in Calgary.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be a part of an exceptional team whose experience includes writing and prosecuting patents for clients in a broad range of industries, and also includes freedom-to-use advisory work and patent litigation.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Registration with CIPO and the USPTO as a Patent Agent;
• Experience in private practice in that role;
• Some years spent in practice with senior patent agents;
• Knowledge and experience in drafting patent applications in the mechanical and structural areas;
• A degree in Engineering, preferably with engineering employment experience and a P.Eng. designation; and
• A J.D. or LL.B.

While meeting all of these requirements is an asset, applicants with a similar set of skills and experience may be considered.
