Stephanie Barnes is a paralegal with 20+ years’ experience in the legal profession, working out of our Edmonton office. She primarily supports our Litigation Law group.

Stephanie joined Field in 2023 and has quickly made herself a valuable member of the Litigation Support team. Her extensive and varied legal background grants Stephanie the ability to take on a diverse range of matters with confidence and expertise; however, her passion is for civil litigation. One of her strengths lies in her ability to quickly distill the facts of the matter to determine the context of the various requests she is tasked with assisting.

Prior to joining Field, Stephanie began her legal profession by accepting a position with a sole practitioner law firm after not finding any job openings related to her degree. Finding she really enjoyed the field, she then worked for several years with the Alaska Court system, and finally the Public Defender’s office, before immigrating to Canada. She found a lawyer willing to take a chance on sponsoring her work visa and spent several years gaining confidence with the Canadian legal system working for Assistant Chief Justice The Honorable Aran Veylan until he dissolved his practice to assume his current role. Stephanie continued to further hone her skills in civil litigation for about 10 years when she finally brought that experience to Field.

Outside the Office

Stephanie is a very proud immigrant to Canada and counts her citizenship ceremony as one of the highlights of her life. She serves as chair for the Monarch Child Care Society and volunteers with Kids With Cancer Society. She is a proud mom, and in her spare time, loves cheering for the Oilers, gardening, taking in live music, and backcountry camping and hiking with her husband.
